I use many forms of assessment to determine how your students are
performing.
Observation-This is done in the classroom in an ongoing
manner. I take anecdotal notes on children which I keep in a binder for reference/discussion.
I am continuously watching and listening to determine
if my students have achieved a goal or objective or whether they need more practice or reteaching of a concept.
Informal Assessment- This is done in my classroom on a weekly
basis for spelling and reading/language arts concepts. The math tests are given as a Topic is completed. Areas such as
science or social studies are tested at the end of a chapter or unit of
study.Your child will bring these corrected tests/assessments home in their home/school folder for your review.
Students will be given a benchmark writing task 3 times this year. This writing will be rubric scored and kept in school in writing portfolios. If you have any questions regarding your child's performance on an assessment please let me know.
Formal Testing-Your child will be formally assessed in reading
using a test called DIBELS three times a year- in September,January and May.
Results of this test will be shared with parents at teacher conferences or by parent request following administration of the test.
